According to the Ghana Education Service (GES), it will from 2022 consider the posting of only degree holders to schools across the country while those with diploma will be given the opportunity to upgrade themselves.
The Deputy Director-General of the Ghana Education Service (GES), Mr Anthony Boateng disclosed at a GES Workshop on Secondary Education Improvement Project at Larteh in the Eastern region.
Asked whether those who are unable to upgrade themselves will be sacked, the Deputy Director-General said no teacher will be sacked but rather with time, those who will be unable to upgrade will be out of the system.
He also disclosed that private schools in the country are going to be exempted from their system as part of the ongoing reforms in the educational sector.
According to the Director-General, the new reforms will see Private schools placed under the National Inspectorate Board (NIB), an agency under the auspices of the Education Ministry instead of the Ghana Education Service.
